I decided to start this blog as I've recently been looking around the internet for work from home

REMEMBER- It is better to make no money than to be scammed out of it!

Everyone who wants to work from home in Ireland has to dredge through the scams before finding the REAL opportunities. Most get burned by the scams too. I got burned by a few scams myself before I found anything worthwhile.

So I intend to use this blog to help others avoids the scams and give some useful tips on work at home Ireland jobs. I will try to keep this blog updated daily. I found a huge amount of the websites were scams, just trying to get email addresses, phone numbers and other personal information.

Avoiding Scam Work at Home Jobs in Ireland

Remember its better to make no money than to be scammed out of it!
Everyone who wants to work from home in Ireland has to go through the scams before finding the REAL opportunities. Here are some handy tips:
1) Refine your search techniques, most scam sites are listed under 'work at home' or similar variants.
2) Never give any personal info (marital status, family members, credit card info, bank details or ANY passwords).
3) Set yourself up with a Paypal account as most work from home jobs will pay through www.paypal.com. You can then transfer money securely from your Paypal account to your personal Bank account, which is free for all transactions over €100.
4) Check the domain registration, if the company website states they have been in business for 20 years, but the domain registration dates a few months ago, something is definitely suspicious. You can go to www.whois.net to check domain registration.
5) Stay away if they ask for any type of registration fee, or money for 'training materials', no matter how small that fee may seem. You do not have to pay €20 to go down to your local grocery store and be a checker, do you?
6) Avoid anything that claims to make you a millionaire overnight, or along that line anyway. The only person making millions is the scam artist who is pocketing you money. You should also avoid anything with bad spelling and grammar.
7) Check out the web host and e-mail that the company is using. If they are not legitimate, chances are that they might be using a free web host, such as geocities, bravenet etc. Also be very careful if they are using a free e-mail provider such as gmail, yahoo or hotmail for the same reasons.
Be really careful out there, the scams outweigh the genuine opportunities 10/1. Just use the following checklist whenever you’re checking out a work from home opportunity:
1. Do they ask for personal information?
2. Check domain registration.
3. Do they ask for money?
4. Where did you find the ad for the job?
5. Do they actually state what the job will entail?
6. Do they promise you riches for a small amount of work?
7. Do they have poor spelling and grammar?
8. Are they using a free webhost/e-mail provider?
Not all of these key points will apply to every single scam out there, but this will help you identify some that you need to stay away from!

I've found lots of Data Entry work from home scams on the internet, most of them promise big money but also charge a fee. I would advise you to stay away from anyone who asks you for money to work for them, you shouldn't have to pay to work for someone.

You should also ignore any advertisements in newspapers for data entry work as 99% of them are work at home scams.

I was trying to locate a website which was reliable and will pay you to read their advertisements. I've come across alot of scams but the best I've found to date is called clixsense.

I've been a member for the past 5 weeks. To be honest the earning are very low, but its better than nothing, a few extra dollars per month. Its worth giving it a try. You can also earn a small amount for referrals, just 10c per signup but it adds up over time. And its free to join.

I thought I'd add another post on some free stuff, its not work but its useful sometimes to take a break from your normal Work from Home job.

This can be anything from viewing adverts, reviews, completing surveys and giving your opinions on various items. You will never make enough money from this to make it your only job, but its useful to supplement your income. Anyone who tells you that you can work full time at this is just trying to scam you as its not possible.

I'm in the process of creating a list of all the survey websites I've used in the past. They operate as follows: you will be emailed various surveys, and awards a number of points for each survey completed. The points can then be exchanged for vouchers for most of the major online retailers.

I've found a few who will send you a cheque in the post, but you usually need to accumulate quite an amount before they send the cheque, so I find it best to just 'cash in' my points everytime I've enough for a $10 voucher, most times the voucher code will be emailed to me.

Some of you might be interested in this, its not exactly work from home, but it allows you to build up points by clicking on adverts, signing up for newsletters etc and the points can then be exchanged for vouchers. The is a genuine website which has been running in Ireland for almost 10 year, but they recently started to include Canada and the UK.

Work from Home Craft jobs

I've been so busy with work lately I didnt get a chance to post. I'm still working on the same job I found on elance, but I'm guessing I'll have this work completely finished by Friday afternoon.

I've already submitted some bids for a few new jobs on elance, so hopefully I get something else.

This morning I've also done some research to see if theres any home based work available for Crafts etc as thats something I've always been interested in as a hobby. I found a few but need to do some more research.

New Data Entry Work from Home job

Today I started a new data entry project, so I've been very busy. This was my first time to successfully get some work on http://www.elance.com/ . Its a good website where you can bid on projects, but theres alot of competition, especially from India and Asia. But I was lucky enough to find a Data Entry project from an Irish business. Even though there were lots of others willing to do this work cheaper than me, they weren't located in Ireland, so I won the project in the end. I'd recommend people have a look at the Elance website as it contains lots and lots of Work from Home opportunities.

Starting Out Working at Home in Ireland

This is your business, be methodical and research everything before starting to Work at Home in Ireland. When you set yourself up as a Home Worker you have to be aware that you are basically setting up your own business.

You have to register with the Tax office in Ireland as Self Employed and spend money on your own resources, (these will vary depending on what direction you want to go in and sites will always list what you need, so be sure to do your research).

You will need to do your own taxes so be sure to get in contact with a reliable accountant if, like myself, you haven’t a head for figures. You can sort out your taxes yourself though, I know plenty of people who do it while working at Home in Ireland.

Information and resources can be found on the Revenue Commissioners website, or even online forums such as http://www.askaboutmoney.com/ or http://www.boards.ie/. One handy thing about working from home in Ireland is that so much can be written off against tax eg. a portion of your Rent/Mortgage, utility bills and anything that can be listed as an absolute requirement to carry out your work (phone/internet, computer hardware/software, office supplies).

Before you begin applying for any jobs online, have your CV ready to cut and paste, and a good one so sit down and spend an evening tweaking. I find the best way to do this is to Google your past and current job titles, this will bring up interesting and very professional job descriptions which you can modify and use. Also, have at least 3 references available to email, a good portion of companies will ask for these, have one good character reference. Its probably best if you don't include eferences written by family members. A handy place to get a character reference is your Bank, believe it or not, especially if you’ve had an account in good standing for a few years, not many people know this.

When you have your CV and references ready and tweaked to perfection, save a copy of them all in a notepad file, this makes them handier to transfer to online forms. If you are required to email them or attach them as files, use the Microsoft Word (.doc) version.
